Separate travel information from booking evidence
The official application page asks for information about intended dates, accommodation and trip costs. Organise your genuine plans. This does not make every type of reservation a mandatory supporting document.
What the supporting-document guide says
The official supporting-document guide lists hotel bookings and flight bookings other than transit among less useful evidence. Transit needs its own instructions. This page therefore does not tell every visitor to purchase reservations before applying.
Create a planning worksheet
| Working information | Preparation action |
|---|---|
| Intended arrival and departure | Keep one current record of planned dates. |
| Accommodation plans | Record where you intend to stay and what is unconfirmed. |
| Budget and payer | Check that the plan and funding explanation fit together. |
| Existing reservations | If used, compare their dates with your application answers. |
Investigate differences in dates
Check time zones, overnight journeys and changed plans before editing a file. Compare the application, working itinerary and any genuine reservation you already have. Do not create a false booking confirmation to make dates look consistent.
Your booking decisions and cancellation terms depend on your travel plans. VisaPilot does not buy bookings or promise a visa outcome.
Use destination-specific instructions
This guide is about UK visitor preparation. Another destination may ask for different itinerary or accommodation evidence. Check its official route separately before applying this advice.
Frequently asked questions
Can I organise my application before buying flights?
Start with genuine intended travel information and the applicable instructions. An unpurchased flight is not automatically a missing mandatory document.
Does this cover transit applications?
No. Transit has distinct instructions and is outside this guide.
Does a hotel booking guarantee approval?
No. A reservation does not guarantee a visa outcome.
